Kristin Fischer will join CNN as the Space and Defense Correspondent in July 2021. As a Space and Defense Correspondent she covers everything starting from NASA to the newly formed Space Force as well as commercial space firms as well as space tourism. Kristin was raised in the space sector as the daughter and granddaughter of NASA astronauts. In the past five years she's been covering space policy under the Biden and Trump administrations on FOX News. In that period, Kristin was also a reporter covering impeachment proceedings for the president and the 2020 presidential election and efforts by two administrations to control the Coronavirus Pandemic. Additionally, she traveled extensively with the Vice President and President of the United States, including a top secret visit to Afghanistan along with the then-President Donald Trump. Prior to being hired by the channel in 2015, Kristin spent nearly a decade working her way up in local TV news stations in Grand Junction, Colorado; Little Rock, Arkansas; and Washington, D.C. where she won one Emmy Award as a one-man-band reporter for the city's CBS affiliate. Kristin used her experience in front of the camera to launch Field Mouse Films. The firm specialized in making documentary films and was a favorite among corporate clients, including Uber, Starwood Hotels & Resorts. Kristin has a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism from Boston University. She lives in Washington, D.C. with her husband, and their three-year old daughter.
